Riad Zhor

ONCE UPON A TIME, HAJA ZHOR

Zhor, which means “flowers”, is the first name of the owner’s mother who wanted to give an homage to her.

Haja Zhor, born in Tagounite, comes from a respected traditional family. Raised in a modest environment with her seven brothers and sisters, by Haj Mohamed, a soldier in the French army (fighter in the Second World War and in Indochina), and Safia, a stay-at-home mother.

When she meets Haj Abdellah, it’s love at first sigh t! She marries and gives birth to five children and raises as many adopted children.

Haja Zhor has dedicated her life to spreading love around her and taking care of others, so it is only natural that the Riad Zhor team perpetuates her memory by welcoming its guests as members of the family.

Redesigned and refurbished from the ground to the terrace, Riad Zhor has chosen a renovation highlighting the talents of Moroccan craftsmen and traditional techniques and materials.

Bejmat on the floor (terracotta tiles), zelliges in the bathrooms (colored mosaic tiles) , tadelakt on the walls (lime plaster, waterproofed with black soap and polished with river pebbles), woven wicker furniture and carpet Berbers have all been made by hand with the greatest care.

Bejmat au sol (carreaux de terre cuite), zelliges dans les salles d’eau (carreaux de mosaïque de couleur), tadelakt aux murs (enduit à la chaux, étanchéifié au savon noir et poli avec des galets de rivière), mobilier en osier tressé et tapis berbères ont tous été réalisés à la main avec le plus grand soin.
