Tangier
A cosmopolitan, open and warm city, unlike any other in Morocco
Tangier, the gateway to North Africa, separated by an arm of the sea from Europe, cultivates a benevolent and luminous nonchalance, which attracts even more travelers than tourists.
City to live, to breathe, to feel, Tangier offers itself to strollers, dreamers, smiles and generously shares its sense of welcome, as much carried by its history as by its geography.
Historic districts
Here, strolling is the law, whether in the charming old medina, or in the alleys of the Kasbah and their magnificent panoramas over the Strait. Take the time for a coffee or a tea on the terraces of the place du Petit Socco, or push the door of the unmissable Rif Cinematheque, on Place du 9 Avril.

TO VISIT
- The Museum of Mediterranean Cultures, in the former Sultan’s Palace
- The Kasbah Museum, contemporary art space dedicated to artists from northern Morocco
- The Dar Niaba museum dedicated to the diplomatic history of Tangier
- Also worth visiting: the museum dedicated to Ibn Battuta, “Tangiers’ Marco Polo” in Borj Naam, and the tiny Donkey Museum Kasbah Street.

The beaches around Tangier

Tangier has two very beautiful coasts, to the west with its Atlantic coast and to the north its Mediterranean shore, with many beaches, to be preferred to that of the city center, very visited but with too often polluted waters.

The long Atlantic beaches, such as those of Achakkar or Sidi Kacem, attract as much appetite of surfers and lovers of sumptuous sunsets. There are supervised bathing areas, equipment for rent (umbrellas, deckchairs, etc.) and sanitary facilities.

On the Mediterranean side, the beaches are often nestled in small coves of white sand, between the mountains and near the large Ferdiua lighthouse forest. That of Playa Blanca is one of the most attractive and beautiful in the region.
